DESCRIPTION
Buds downy and white with a crimson edge. Young leaves are shiny with hints of bronze. As they
develop, the leaves become thick and finely embossed with angular serration in two very narrow
sets.
Ridged branches with nodes flattening at the top with large green longitudinal tendrils. Mediumsized
bunches, long, tight, cylindrical and compact. Golden-coloured spherical fruits, covered with
reddish-brown spots at maturity. Thick skinned with a firm flesh, very sweet and juicy.
GROWING CONDITIONS AND CULTIVATION
Buds early, moderately vigorous with an upright habit. A fragile variety, vulnerable to many diseases in
particular to oidium, mildew, grey rot and grape worm.
Adapts to relatively cool, chalky terrains. Aromatic profile : rich in linalool and nerol.
Variety which is exclusively used in all Muscat Vin Doux Naturel apart from those from the AOC Muscat
de Rivesaltes which can also use Muscat d’Alexandrie.
ORGANOLEPTIC PROFILE
Muscat à Petits Grains has very characteristic musky aromas. It has a fresh, complex nose with notes
of citrus and exotic fruits.
